Repotting Miles

After propagating the 10 spiderettes on Miles, it was time to help him out in another way too.

Look at this poor guy. Not quite root-bound, I think, but I'm sure it's a bit too much for him in that pot, and he needed some straightening up.


Instead of loosening the soil and roots and repotting him in a larger pot, I cut off the bottom 1/3 of the root ball (with a bread knife).


This felt like a horrible thing to do (and I'm not going to lie, it creeped me out a bit too).


I then cut and tidied up other bits around the root ball to make him a bit smaller, before putting him back in his pot, topped up with fresh houseplant soil.


And here is Miles back in his pot!

I think he looks a lot happier now he's upright again.
