A very sad little Lynn in some incredibly dry soil...
My new houseplant book (actually both of them) suggest watering the plant the day before repotting it, to reduce the "shock" to it. So yesterday evening I took the little orange pot out of its green pot and watered it.
Of course most of the water went straight through. The soil is so bone dry and compact that the water's just falling round the edge. But I drenched and drained it a few times, and hopefully that will help a bit.
I left her for a bit, then gently prodded and pierced the soil in a few places with a chopstick (as advised by Darryl Cheng, to help aerate the soil and ensure the moisture is getting everywhere) then watered it through again.
And then this afternoon I finally repotted her!
When I tipped her out she sadly only had two measly roots on her...
But I stripped off the two bottom/outer leaves (looking pretty pale and weak) and put her in a slightly bigger pot, using some nice new Cactus & Succulent soil mix.
I've patted the soil down so it's nice and compact, and won't water it for at least a few days.
Let's see if Lynn has enough strength in her to survive, or if my neglect has been too much...
